Nepal Adventure Tours
Nepal isn't just the world's best trekking destination. It's also Asia's home of white-water rafting, the world's 3rd highest bungee jump, paragliding over the Himalayas, and mountain biking routes that most cyclists only dream about.
White-Water Rafting
Nepal has some of Asia's finest white-water. The Bhote Kosi offers Grade IV–V rapids through a deep gorge 90 minutes from Kathmandu. The Trishuli (Grade III–IV) is perfect for first-timers and families. Multi-day kayaking expeditions on the Sun Kosi are for serious paddlers.
Paragliding in Pokhara
Pokhara is Asia's paragliding capital. Tandem flights from Sarangkot give 25–35 minutes in the air above Phewa Lake with Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchare filling the horizon. 50,000+ flights per year make this one of the safest, most established operations in Asia.
Bungee Jumping
Nepal's 160-metre bungee at The Last Resort over the Bhote Kosi gorge is the world's 3rd highest bungee jump — a 3-hour drive from Kathmandu. The gorge scenery alone is worth the trip. Combo packages with overnight stay and rafting available.
Zip-Lining
Pokhara has one of Asia's longest and steepest zip-lines — 1.8km at 120km/h above the Annapurna foothills. A second, more extreme zip-line (High Ground Adventures, 2km) opened in 2023.
Mountain Biking
The Kathmandu Valley has extraordinary mountain biking routes: technical singletrack around Shivapuri, the classic Nagarkot–Dhulikhel–Banepa loop, and community trails through ancient Newari villages. Mustang's high-altitude dirt roads have attracted international downhill cyclists.
Kayaking
Nepal's rivers range from gentle flat-water paddling on the Seti to technical Class V whitewater on the Bhote Kosi. Day kayaking trips from Pokhara on the Seti River are excellent for beginners. Multi-day guided kayak expeditions (Sun Kosi, Tamur River) for advanced paddlers are world-class.
Hot-Air Ballooning
Dawn hot-air balloon flights from Pokhara give 1 hour above the valley with Annapurna panorama. The Kathmandu Valley flight is equally spectacular — you drift above medieval temples and terraced hills with the entire Himalayan chain visible. Seasonal and weather-dependent.
Via Ferrata & Rock Climbing
Nepal's limestone cliffs around Pokhara and the Kathmandu Valley offer sport climbing routes from beginner to 7b+. Via ferrata routes (iron-rung cliff climbing with safety cable) have recently opened near Pokhara — no experience needed.

What is the best adventure activity in Nepal?
Paragliding in Pokhara is the most popular single activity with beginners; the Bhote Kosi bungee is the most extreme single experience. For a multi-day adventure, white-water rafting the Sun Kosi river (8 days) is a bucket-list experience.
Is white-water rafting safe in Nepal?
Yes, with a licensed operator. Nepal's rafting industry is regulated and experienced operators maintain safety equipment, conduct pre-trip safety briefings, and carry emergency communication devices. The Trishuli (Grade III) is very safe for first-timers; the Bhote Kosi (Grade IV–V) requires good swimming ability.
What adventure activities can I do in Pokhara?
Pokhara is Nepal's adventure capital: paragliding (every morning), zip-lining, mountain biking, kayaking on the Seti River, bungee at The Last Resort (3hr drive), and the starting point for Annapurna treks.
Can I combine adventure activities with a Nepal trek?
Absolutely. Most trekkers combine their trek with 1–3 days of adventure activities in Pokhara or Kathmandu Valley. Travel Himalaya Nepal can arrange full itineraries that combine any trek with adventure activities.
What is the minimum age for Nepal adventure activities?
Paragliding: 16+ (under 18 needs guardian consent). Bungee jumping: 18+. Rafting: 12+ depending on grade. Zip-line: 12+ (weight limit applies). Mountain biking: no minimum age on guided tours.
