National Park Safaris

Wildlife Safari Nepal

Nepal is one of the few countries on earth where you can trek to the base of Everest in the morning and be watching Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinos in a jungle park by the end of the week. Chitwan and Bardia national parks are UNESCO-recognised and home to some of Asia's most extraordinary wildlife — and almost no crowds compared to African safari destinations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wildlife can I see in Nepal's national parks?

Chitwan National Park hosts the greatest concentration of one-horned rhinos in the world (700+), Bengal tigers, wild elephants, gharial crocodiles, and 500+ bird species. Bardia National Park in far-western Nepal is more remote and offers better tiger-spotting odds, along with wild elephants, swamp deer, and the elusive gangetic dolphin in the Karnali River.

What is the best time for a wildlife safari in Nepal?

October to March is prime safari season. Vegetation is lower after monsoon, water holes concentrate wildlife, and the weather is clear and cool. October–November and February–March are the peak windows. April–May is hot but tiger sightings increase as animals seek water. Monsoon (June–September) sees parks flood and become very difficult to access.

Is it easy to see tigers in Nepal?

Tiger sightings are not guaranteed, but Nepal has one of the world's highest tiger densities relative to park size. Bardia gives better odds than Chitwan as it receives fewer visitors. Our naturalist guides know resident tigers' territories. Most 4-day Bardia guests see at least pug marks and two-thirds see a tiger directly.

What activities are included in a Nepal jungle safari?

A standard safari package includes: 4WD game drives (early morning and evening — best sighting windows), guided jungle walks with naturalist, elephant observation and bathing (ethical observer-only model), dugout canoe ride on the river, cultural visit to a Tharu village, and all meals at the lodge. Night safaris are available at Bardia.

Can I combine a wildlife safari with trekking?

Yes — this is one of Nepal's biggest selling points. A classic itinerary: 2 days in Kathmandu → fly to Lukla → 12-day EBC trek → fly back → 3 days in Chitwan → Pokhara for 2 nights → home. Or do a shorter trek (Poon Hill 5 days) from Pokhara, then bus down to Chitwan for a 3-night safari before Kathmandu departure. We handle all logistics.
