How We Trek

Responsible Trekking

The Annapurna Conservation Area is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. We have been guiding treks here since 1998 — long enough to see how tourism, done wrong, damages it. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Porter Welfare

Our Porters Are Not Pack Animals

Porter abuse is a well-documented problem in Nepal trekking. Overloaded, underpaid, and under-equipped workers have become commonplace at many agencies. We take a different position.

Every porter on our treks carries a maximum of 25 kg. They receive the same quality cold-weather gear as guides — down jacket, sleeping bag rated to −10°C, waterproof jacket, and boots. They have full medical insurance and are paid fair daily rates agreed with the Nepal Tourism Board.

We have worked with many of the same porter families for over a decade. They are not a cost item — they are our colleagues.
