What will I see from the hot air balloon over Pokhara?

On a clear morning you will see the entire Annapurna massif including Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Annapurna III, and the iconic fishtail peak Machapuchare (6,993m). Below, Phewa Lake, the city of Pokhara, and the green Himalayan foothills spread out beneath you.

How long is the balloon flight?

The flight itself lasts approximately 1 hour. Including ground preparation, inflation, and post-landing activities, plan for about 3 hours total. Flights launch at dawn to take advantage of the calmest air and clearest mountain visibility.

What is the best time of year for ballooning in Pokhara?

October to March offers the clearest skies and most reliable mountain views. The autumn months (October–November) are considered ideal. Ballooning is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if wind or cloud conditions are unsafe.

What is included in the $250 price?

The price includes the 1-hour balloon flight with a certified pilot, hotel pickup and drop-off in Pokhara, a light breakfast after landing, and a flight certificate. Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended.

Is the balloon flight safe? Who operates it?

Balloon flights are operated by certified balloon companies with licensed pilots following Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal regulations. All equipment is inspected regularly. The activity has an excellent safety record in Pokhara.

What should I wear and bring?

Dress in warm layers as it can be cool at altitude, especially at dawn. Bring a camera (secured with a strap), sunscreen, and sunglasses. Avoid loose scarves or clothing near the burner. The balloon basket is standing-room only.
